Talk about a power couple, and we’ve got one right around the corner!
James Carville, an American commentator by profession, demonstrates that you can always find time for your married life and the family you get from it, despite his demanding job. He has a wife and two daughters, who round out his character as a man because one cannot be famous and not have a family.
Of course, Duncan Lacroix and Taylor Cole are exceptions!
Today, we’ll take a look at James’ married life and get to know the happy family life he’s been living.
Into James Carville’s Married Life!
James Carville is well-known for his strict democratic knowledge and attitude, which also made him a personality that SNL could impersonate.
Apart from his astute political career, he is a more laid-back person when it comes to family, as is his critically acclaimed political consultant wife, Mary Matalin.
The couple met in 1991, a year before they ran against each other as opposing presidential candidates. Carville was a lead strategist for Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign in 1992, and Matalin was the Chief Campaign Director for George H. W. Bush’s campaign.
The couple met for the first time in Washington, D.C., as Matalin recalls.
“It wasn’t much of a date. I’m not sure what we were, but it was something. That’s all I remember: vodka and French fries. And I was struck, stayed struck, and continue to be struck.”As she cradles Carville’s chin in adoration, she says.
However, because only one president could be elected, either of them was at risk of losing, and it was Matalin who was on the losing side.
Carville’s candidate, Bill Clinton, won the election, and while his joy as a Democrat whose candidate had just won the election was high, Matalin’s was low. Both of them, however, were able to balance their joy and sorrow.
Matalin stated,
“Yeah, it’s really difficult. It was extremely depressing, but he was doing fantastically well. And I was head over heels in love. And they fought each other, with the good side triumphing. I chose to stay in love rather than in the dark.”After putting their professional lives on hold, the couple took charge of their relationship and married on Thanksgiving Day in 1993. The wedding was planned for October in New Orleans.

Despite the fact that both of them are extremely talented when it comes to debating political issues, it is difficult to imagine how harmonious their family life is in their home with two daughters Emma and Matty.
However, both acknowledge that if they were to argue and go into fight mode, it would be a bloodbath, given their prominence in the political arena.
“We don’t fight much. We’re not good fighters; we pout or act passive-aggressively. And I believe the reason for this is that if either of us gets into a fight mode, given our experience and skill sets, we are so vicious that we transform into a different person.”The couple is currently residing in their New Orleans home, a 1905 mansion that was not Carville’s first choice. Carville, on the other hand, now calls this his home and has stated that living in New Orleans is something he has always felt was right and that he should have to do.
I’m very content here. That’s all I have to say. There’s not much else I can say.”
