The former CEO of Reddit drew fire this week after revealing that she and several others at a ritzy 2011 Silicon Valley Christmas party attended by Ghislaine Maxwell “knew” or “suspected” that she was allegedly supplying underage girls to Jeffrey Epstein but did not confront her. Maxwell was at the party thrown by Kleiner Perkins, a venture capital firm where Ellen Pao worked as a partner, according to a tweet made Monday by Ellen Pao, the former CEO of Reddit. Pao tweeted on Monday, “She was at the Kleiner holiday party in 2011, but I had no desire to meet her much less have a photo taken with her.” “We were aware that she was supplying underage girls for sex,” she said, “but I think that was fine with the ‘cool’ folks in charge of the strictly restricted guest list.”
She added in a second tweet that while media stories had implicated Maxwell in sex trafficking, she had not been charged legally at the time. “To be clear, the newspapers had accused her of supplying young girls for sex, but she had not been charged, so I guess it would be more honest to say we’suspected’ rather than ‘knowing,'” she wrote. Maxwell was arrested in New Hampshire last week and charged with six counts of allegedly trafficking teenage females for pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and lying under oath about the alleged offenses. Epstein had been convicted of sex trafficking in Florida and required to register as a sex offender at the time of the 2011 party.
