Prior to entering politics, Mahua worked as an investment banker for JPMorgan Chase in London and New York. In 2009, she left her position as an investment banker to go into politics. She initially joined the Youth Congress, where she later emerged as Rahul Gandhi’s preferred politician. She was one of Rahul Gandhi’s go-to people for the “Aam Admi ka Sipahi” programme.

In 2010, she later changed to the All India Trinamool Congress Party. As a candidate for her All India Trinamool Congress party, she won the election. After receiving the majority of 15989 votes in the Karimpur constituency of the Nadia district, she was elected. She was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly as a result of this victory, and she held this seat till 23 May 2019.

Mahua Moitra  was elected to the House of Representatives on May 23 with a majority of 63218 votes from the Kirshnanagar constituency.

She was designated Goa-in-charge of the TMC party last year on November 13 in order to get the party ready to run in the next Goa Legislative Assembly election in 2022. She frequently spoke on behalf of causes pertaining to young empowerment, jobs, and education during political rallies.
