Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is best known for playing Bishop Heahmund in the popular television series Vikings. He has established himself in his career and has been seen in many movies. He is most recognized for his roles in the movies Michael Collins, Velvet Goldmine, Bend It Like Beckham, Alexander, Match Point, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Stonewall, Damascus Cover, and many others.
Childhood and education
On July 27, 1977, Jonathan Michael Francis O’Keeffe was born in Dublin, Ireland. His mother’s names were John O’Keeffe and Geraldine Myers. Meyers’ family relocated to Country Cork when his father, a folk musician, took a job there. His three brothers all chose to follow in their father’s footsteps and become musicians. He was a Roman Catholic and went to the all-boys North Monastery Christian Brothers School.
Given that it was a Catholic institution, Jonathan frequently disregarded the rigorous regulations. He was dismissed from school as a result of his rising absences from his classes. A casting director for the movie War of the Buttons noticed him when he started working in voting booths. He was given a chance to audition, but he was rejected. On the other side, casting directors pushed him to pursue acting as a career.
