Professional defensive end that was drafted first overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2022 NFL Draft. Prior to being drafted, he attended the University of Georgia where he won an NCAA CFB Championship in January 2022. During his freshman year at Georgia, he was named to the Freshman All-SEC team and was a co-winner of the SEC Defensive Newcomer of the Year award.
He graduated from Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia. While at Upson-Lee, he was named an All-American and he was selected to the 2019 All-American Bowl.
He was one of five defensive players from Georgia to be drafted during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft which is the most in UGA program history, breaking Georgia's previous record of three first round draft picks.
He grew up living with his family in Thomaston, Georgia.
He is the first Georgia Bulldogs' football player since Matthew Stafford to be selected first overall in the NFL Draft.
