For seventh grade, Lily returned to Lakeville, Connecticut, and attended the Hotchkiss School. Father David Rabe and mother Jill Clayburgh are Lily’s parents. Her father is a playwright born in 1940, and her mother is an actress born in 1944 and lived until 2010.

Lily, likewise, has a younger brother named Michael. He is also a playwright and actor. Lily has an older paternal half-brother named Jason, who is also a musician, in addition to Michael.
