Career
While she was in Death Takes a Holiday, a scout from 20th Century Fox offered Gilbert a film contract, but she declined, citing a desire to obtain more stage experience. She went on to perform in What a Life in New York shortly after.
Gilbert signed a long-term contract with Warner Bros. in August 1939. Lindsay was leaving the firm at the same time she joined it, partly to avoid competing for positions with her sister, but also because she had complained about Warner Bros.’ treatment of them recently. Gilbert played Kathleen Carney in Bachelor’s Children on the radio.
