Career
Stefan was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. He became known for using his stick to clear skaters in front of the net, often receiving penalties and sometimes suspensions. He is also well-known for playing Pee Wee hockey on the same team as Wayne Gretzky. He appeared in 299 games and won 115 of them before suffering a career-ending knee injury against the Edmonton Oilers.
Stefan began his coaching career in 1993 with the Detroit Jr. Red Wings of the Ontario Hockey League, where he helped lead the team to its first OHL championship in 1995.
