Tracey Ullman was born on December 30, 1959, in Slough, Buckinghamshire, England. She is the second of Dorin and Anthony John Ullman’s two daughters. Her father was of Polish ancestry and served in the Polish army, while her mother was British with Roman ancestors. Tracey’s father died when she was six years old. While reading to her, he suffered a major heart attack.
Her mother struggled to make ends meet after her father died since she had to do various odd jobs to support herself and her daughters. This caused Tracey, her sister, and their mother to travel about, and these experiences, together with Tracey’s great observation of people and her mother’s sense of humor, had an impact on her career path.
When Tracey’s mother became depressed, she and her sister would put on a night variety performance to cheer her up. Tracey would generally impersonate their family members, neighbors, and celebrities on the show.
