He built his personal fortune through his partnership with George Melville, with whom he co-owns several businesses, including Boston Pizza, Mr. Lube and White Rock Commercial. He and Manjit Minhas, co-founder of Minhas Breweries & Distillery, have both been “dragons” on Dragons’ Den. He was a constable in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the 1960’s. He broke into the world of entrepreneurship by purchasing the rights to open a Boston Pizza restaurant in Penticton, British Columbia.
