Battle was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the first round (27th overall) of the 1989 NBA Draft but was traded on draft day to the Phoenix Suns along with Micheal Williams in exchange for Anthony Cook, the Suns’ first-round draft pick (24th overall). Battle spent four seasons in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, and Golden State Warriors. He competed in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 1990, finishing in last place (8th). Battle briefly played for the International Basketball Association’s Fargo-Moorhead Beez in 2000.
