Baio co-starred with Jodie Foster in the children’s gangster musical Bugsy Malone, directed by Alan Parker and starring Baio as the title character. Baio and Foster later collaborated together again in Adrian Lyne’s teen girl drama Foxes (1980). Baio was cast as The Fonz’s cousin Chachi Arcola on Happy Days when he was 16 years old. During the Third Annual Youth in Film Awards (1980–1982), he received two Young Artist Awards: Best Young Actor in a Television Special for Stoned and Best Young Comedian in Television or Motion Pictures for Happy Days. He also appeared in the youth drama specials The Boy Who Drank Too Much and Senior Trip, both produced for television.
