Gene Wilder, born Jerome Silberman, was an American actor, director, producer, screenwriter, singer-songwriter, and author. He was a well-known actor who won an Oscar for his first significant film performance in The Producers and as Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

He also appeared in the films Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles. Wilder earned the Clarence Derwent Award for the Broadway play “The Complaisant Lover” in 1962. He also has a Primetime Emmy Award.
