She is best known for her role as Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby, for which she received an AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2013. She is also known for starring in The Maids (2014), a Sydney Theatre Company production for which she received a Helpmann Award nomination.

Elizabeth was born in Paris, France, on August 24, 1990. She was born to a Polish father and an Irish-born Australian mother. Both of her parents were ballet dancers. Her family relocated to Melbourne, Australia, when she was five years old. She is the oldest of three siblings, with a younger sister and a younger brother.

Her ethnicity is Polish and Irish, and her nationality is Australian. Debicki was drawn to ballet at a young age and trained as a dancer until she decided to pursue a career in the theater. She graduated from Huntingtower School in eastern Melbourne in 2007.

She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne with a bachelor’s degree in drama in 2010. She was awarded a Richard Pratt Bursary for outstanding acting students in their second year of training in August 2009.
