Career
Källenius began his career in 1993 as a member of the “International Junior Research Group” at the former Daimler-Benz AG. He held numerous executive positions inside Daimler AG, including head of the Mercedes-Benz Cars group’s “Powertrain” buying department, after other early postings in management control.
In 2010, he assumed the chairmanship of Mercedes-AMG GmbH’s management, which he handed up to Tobias Moers on October 1, 2013. He has been a member of Mercedes-Benz Cars’ executive board since October 2013 and has been in charge of sales. On January 1, 2015, he was appointed to the Daimler AG board of management. As a member of the executive board, he took over control of the “Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development” division on January 1, 2017. He took over for Thomas Weber, who had been in charge of this division since 2004. Britta Seeger took over as a board member for Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales when Källenius stepped down.
On May 22, 2019, Källenius succeeded Dieter Zetsche as Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG.
