Marriner Stoddard Eccles was born in Logan, UT on September 9, 1890. Utah banker who helped Franklin Roosevelt shape the New Deal to help get the U.S. out of the Great Depression. He was the 7th Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve from 1934 to 1948. He was a principal economic advisor to both Franklin D. Roosevelt and his successor, Harry Truman. A successful businessman in the 1920s, he ran several financial institutions and a construction company before coming to the attention of FDR’s ‘brain trust.’
