On October 30, 2019, John Jr. posted a photo of himself and his father on Instagram with the caption “So… My father died today, and I’m not sure how to feel about it. I’m sad, but I’m also grateful for all of the wonderful experiences we shared.

We were more like homies than Father & Son when it came to roasting each other, and I enjoyed that about us. In all seriousness, I work as hard as I do because I’ve watched Him work for 77 years, and I’m damn proud to be his son. I’ll be quite satisfied if I had half of his career and impact on people. His legacy will continue through me, my family, his friends, and everyone else who was affected by him during his time on this planet. He was both my best friend and a hero to me.
