Richard Li is a well-known name in Hong Kong for his business acumen and philanthropy. He is the youngest heir of the business tycoon La Ki Shing. Li is currently working PCCW, STAR TV (Asia), Pacific Century Insurance Holdings and STAR.

Born with a silver spoon, Li received his early education at the St. Paul’s Co-educational College. At the age of thirteen years, he was enrolled in the prestigious Menlo School in California. A hard worker, he started earning money at a very young age. He worked briefly at MC Donald’s and as a caddy at the golf course. With passion for computers, he went ahead to study the subject at Stanford University. He later withdrew from university because of personal reasons.

Li acquired Canadian citizenship in the latter of 1980’s. His citizenship proved valuable in helping him make financial dealings without any restrictions.

At the professional end, Li is chairman of PCCW and PCCW’s executive committee. Just like his father, he believes in Philanthropic causes. He recently donated $1 million to the Business Community Relief Fund for Victims of SARS.

Richard Li is the younger son of business tycoon Li Ka Shing. Li Ka Shing is the chairman of Hutchison Whampoa Limited and Cheung Kong Holdings. He is also the world’s largest operator of health and beauty retail and container terminals. Shing was a School Dropout who has made it big due to his own efforts and hard work.  He married a rich and affluent maternal uncle’s daughter named Chong Yuet Ming. The couple have two children.
