Maci Bookout did not hold back when discussing Ryan Edwards and the progress that she has made on their coparenting relationship despite his legal drama and his public relapse earlier this year that even led to an overdose.
While her ex has been appearing with her again on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, this is a whole new level of transparency.
Maci Bookout is telling all about her relationship with Ryan Edwards, including the effect that he has on her marriage with Taylor McKinney.
Her ex struggled through an overdose earlier this year that Ryan later revealed was intentional. Beyond that, he is currently living in a halfway house and faces some serious legal issues.
According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, Maci went on the The Hopeaholics podcast and discussed Ryan’s relationship with their son Bentley Edwards.
The 32-year-old recalled Bentley coming to her to say that Maci’s “relationship— or lack thereof— with [Ryan] does affect the relationship that [Bentley has] with him.”
This was not easy for her to accept.
“…you know, honestly, right when I heard that, inside I was boiling, because I was like, ‘What do I have to do with that? Your dad can show up whenever he wants to. You’ve got a cell phone. He’s got your number. He can reach out. He can show up to your sports stuff. But he doesn’t. What do I have to do with that?’” Maci recounted.
The mother of three shared that therapy helped her to accept the message better.
She noted, “It was like the boiling was starting and I had to turn it down, turn the oven off. It was like, ‘No, hear him. Hear what he is telling you.’ And figure out what you can f**king do different. If you want to be a good mom, be a good mom. Now’s the time. He just told you something, listen to him!’”
