Barry Watson was born Michael Barrett Watson on April 23, 1974, in Traverse City, Michigan. He was born as the third of four children to parents Karen Watson (mother) and Michael Watson (father).

His father was an attorney father and his mother was a paralegal. He has two older siblings named Scott and Christie, and a younger brother called Kip.

When he was eight, his family moved to Dallas, Texas, where he started his modeling career later on. When he was fourteen years old, his parents got divorced and he moved to Burbank, California a year later to pursue his dreams of being an actor.

Immediately, his talents got recognized and he bagged a six-month contract on the popular daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. After his six-month contract ended, he moved back to Texas to complete his studies.
