Currently, Simons is the founder of Renaissance Technologies, a quantitative hedge
fund based in East Setauket, New York.

Jim Simons was born on 25th April 1938 in Newton, Massachusetts, U.S. His born name is James Harris Simons. He is the son of Matthew Simons and Marcia Simons. Besides that, Jim holds American nationality and belongs to the Caucasian ethnicity.

Moving toward his educational background, Simons earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1958. Later, he received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1961 under the supervision of Bertram Kostant, an American Mathematician.
