Who is Emily Oster?

Emily Oster is an American economics professor, author, and also newsletter writer.

She has written various popular books like Expecting Better, The Family Firm, and Cribsheet.

Emily Oster: Age, Parent, and Ethnicity

Emily was born on February 14, 1980, in New Haven, Connecticut. Her parents are  Sharon Oster and Ray Fair. Both of them are professors of economics at Yale University.

When Emily was just two years old, her parents noticed her talking to herself in her crib. Then they placed a tape recorder in her room to analyze her talks. They passed those tapes on to a linguist and psychologist they were friends with.

After analyzing Emily’s speech, they told that her language was much more complex. it was different when she was alone talking than when interacting with adults.

These stories were collected and published as a compendium in 1989 titled Narratives from the Crib. That book was reprinted in 2006.
