Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad was born in Pakistan on November 6, 1950. Pakistani public figure, writer, television personality, and veteran politician, he was elected into government over seven times. He has served as Minister for Labour and Manpower, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Minister for Industries, Minister for Sports and Culture, Minister for Tourism, and Minister for Railways. He was considered the right-hand man to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He attended a Christian high school and then at Government Polytechnic Institute, before studying law at Gordon College and Punjab University, where he graduated with his degree in 1973. He worked in business commodity ventures and the silk industries while being politically active. After that, he attended Punjab University for his Master’s degree in political science. He was voted into national assemblies starting in 1985.

Career
Ahmed began his political career during his school years when he was actively involved in the opposition against Ayub Khan’s military administration. He was re-elected as a member of the National Assembly from Rawalpindi for the sixth time in the 1997 Pakistani general election.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) declined to give Ahmed a ticket to run in the 2002 general election in Pakistan. Ahmed was elected to the National Assembly for the sixth time as an independent candidate from NA-55 (Rawalpindi) in the 2002 election. He afterward joined PML-Q. He eventually left the PML-Q, where he was a senior vice-president, and founded the Awami Muslim League (AML), which he self-appointed as president.
