What is The Letter S Means

S is the nineteenth letter of the English alphabet, a consonant that is frequently referred to as a sibilant due to its hissing sound. It has two main sounds: one is a simple hissing, like in sack, this, and the other is a vocal hissing (like z), like in is, smart.

Aside from these, it occasionally has the sounds sh and zh, as in sure and measure. It makes a hissing sound at the beginning of words, but the sound it makes in the middle and at the conclusion of words is decided by usage.

The letter is strongly associated with power, honor, and righteousness. S is one of the most powerful letters of the English alphabet, the others being A, J and O. It resonates with the energy that represents some key characteristics like independence, loyalty, ambition, leadership and professionalism.

In spirituality, letter S symbolizes tooth and fangs of the serpents. S also represents spiritual wisdom, understanding and the lower/divine. It originated as the Phoenician symbol for a voiceless sibilant. The Greeks adopted it as the letter sigma (Σ), with lower-case variants according to its position in a word: medial (σ) and final (ζ). The Etruscans and then the Romans further adapted the form to create S.
