Fernando Torres was born in Fuenlabrada, Spain on March 20, 1984. The striker known as El Niño made his senior debut for Atletico Madrid from 2001 until 2007. He then spent time with Liverpool from 2007 to 2011, before joining Chelsea from 2011 until 2015. In 2016, he would sign with Atletico Madrid once again. Career
Torres began his professional career with Atlético Madrid, rising through the ranks of the club’s junior system to the first-team squad. He made his first-team debut in 2001 and scored 75 goals in 174 La Liga matches during his stint with the club. Torres spent two seasons in the Segunda División with Atlético Madrid, where he made 40 appearances and scored seven goals.
Torres joined Liverpool in the Premier League in 2007, for a club-record transfer fee. He became Liverpool’s first player since Robbie Fowler in the 1995–96 season to score more than 20 league goals in a season in his debut season at Anfield. He has competed in six major tournaments with Spain: UEFA Euro 2004, FIFA World Cup 2006, Euro 2008, 2010 World Cup, Euro 2012, and 2014 World Cup.
