Early life
Roy was born on 26th January of 1957 in the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi. He belongs to both English and Kenyan nationality as he moved to England and finished his schooling. He was born in an Indian family and is the son of Burt Roy and Soon Yee Roy. His father used to work in a factory while his mother was a bartender and housewives. There are no records of his brothers and sisters, and we believe he is the only child of his parents. His original birth name is Gurdeep Roy, but he is commonly known for his nickname.
Roy finished his study in England at The Slim Wood School of Comedy. He began his career as a stand-up comedian. Initially, he didn’t think about choosing acting as his career, but he decided to give it a go due to his mother’s guidance and encouragement.
