James Rodríguez is a Colombian professional footballer. He plays as an attacking midfielder, or winger, for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club São Paulo and the Colombia national team. In 2014, James moved from Monaco to Real Madrid for a transfer fee of €80 million, making him one of the most expensive players in football. He has also played for Envigado, Banfield, Porto, Bayern Munich, Everton, Al-Rayyan, and Olympiacos.

James is a native of the city of Ibagué, where he spent his childhood. He is the son of Maria Del Pilar Rubio and Wilson James Rodríguez Bedolla. He has two children, including a daughter with his former wife, volleyball player Daniela Ospina. Daniela is the sister of professional footballer, goalkeeper David Ospina. James became a Spanish citizen in 2019. He is a practising Catholic.
