It’s no big secret that Billie Eilish was swarmed with success from a very young age. This kind of exposure can taint a younger person, but she seems to have remained quite grounded and down to earth in recent years, continuing to personally engage with her fan base. The YouTube video below is great evidence of that.
However, one incredible result of her newfound stardom came in the form of Eilish receiving her dream car at just seventeen years of age. She was gifted a Dodge Challenger – affectionately named ‘Dragon’ – by her record label. That’s right – gifted!
The Dodge Challenger is an incredible car, being one of the favoured, iconic choices of petrolhead Dom Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise. The only caveat was that Billie Eilish wasn’t actually legally permitted to drive the vastly powerful, V6 beast when she received it! She was forced to drive the car as per the requirements of her learner’s permit: with a parent in the passenger seat!
Eilish has been seen driving the car, however. It’s very likely she was grateful to receive her full driving license and get properly behind the wheel of her Dodge Challenger. Not only is she a fantastic singer, dancer and songwriter, but she must be a good driver to handle a car as powerful as that.
Unsurprisingly, the Dodge Challenger has become a staple throughout her presence on social media and in her music videos or media appearances. She’s certainly proud of her vehicle!
The Car Becomes Creative
Eilish combined her creative abilities with her apparent love (or maybe not, as you’ll see) for vehicles in the self-directed music video for her song ‘everything i wanted’, released in 2020. In this video, Eilish and her brother are riding in her beloved Dodge Challenger but ultimately end up crashing into an ocean, sinking with the car into the murky depths.
It was of course all CGI – no way would Eilish have drowned her treasured vehicle, or her brother. The video was created as a metaphor for their bond, and to portray how they’d stick together through any situation.
It’s also a fantastic and dramatic example of how gifted the pair are with their artistic abilities, crafting, directing and producing this music video almost independently. You can view the full music video on YouTube here.
