Does Jeff Bezos Own a Jet?

Jeff bezos owns one of the largest companies in the world and is constantly travelling, which may bring you to wonder if he owns his own jet.

Yes, Jeff Bezos does own his own private jet. With billions of dollars at his expense from his company Amazon, it would make sense for him to own his jet. After all, he is often required to be at meetings on opposite sides of the world from one day to the next.

Read more below to find out what kind of jet Jeff Bezos owns and how much the costs are of owning a private jet.

Jeff Bezos’ Jet

Just like the lyrics in the 2010 song by The Cataracs, Jeff Bezos is “fly like a G6”. That would be because he is the owner of a Gulfstream G50ER Jet. He didn’t always own a gulfstream though, nor did he have the funds to justify the purchase.

Before owning his Gulfstream , Bezos owned a Dassault Falcon 900-EX. He sold the Falcon in 2015. It was after that sale that he bought a brand spanking new Gulfstream. The G650ER has a fuel range of 13,900 kilometers. This means that Bezos can fly almost halfway around the globe before his jet needs to refuel.

You can watch the below YouTube video to get a look inside the world’s five most expensive jet’s, one of which is the Gulfstream G650ER.

Why Buy a Private Jet?

There can be a lot of perks to owning your own jet, especially when you have the money to buy one. The first would be the benefit of being able to take off whenever you want. Feeling like spending the weekend soaking in the sun and laying on a sandy beach by the ocean? No problem, just have the jet fueled up and the staff get it ready.

In all reality though, the reason so many billionaires own their own private planes has nothing to do with jet setting off on their next vacation. It has a lot more to do with having the flexibility to arrange meetings around the world.

Picture this: you are the CEO of a multi-billion dollar company. You need to be at a meeting in Tokyo on Monday, Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, New York on Tuesday afternoon, and then London on Wednesday. Are you going to try and rely on the flight schedule of airlines? What if your flight is canceled and you miss a meeting? That could mean millions of dollars lost to your company. In that case and if you have the money, it makes a lot more sense to just buy your own airplane.
