Who are Derek Hough's Parents?
Derek was born on May 17, 1985, to Bruce Hough and Marianne Hough. His father has been twice chairman of the Republican Party in Utah. He grew up with his four loving siblings in Sandy, Utah, USA. He is the only brother of four beautiful sisters named Julianne, Sharee, Katherine, and Marabeth. The entire family lived happily without any irreconcilable differences. The reason why Derek had an immense craze for dance was his grandparents. All of his grandparents were great dancers of their time. Parents of the lucky boy met during a ballroom dancing competition in Idaho.
The elegant guy is the 2nd cousin of famous musicians Ross Lynch, Rydel, Riker, and Rocky. Derek was just 12-year old when he had to face his parents’ separation. His divorcing parents decided to send him to London. Hough was sent to the United Kingdom to live and study there under the guidance of dance coaches Shirley Ballas and Corky. After some time, his sister named Julianne joined him in London and both started to live together. Derek made up his mind to stay in London for just one year. However, opposite to his intentions, Hough lived in London for a 10-year period. On the other hand, Julianne came back to the United States after completing five years in London.
Dancing Career
In 2002, Derek won the WDSF World Latin Dance Championship. In 2003, he won the Blackpool U-21 Latin title alongside Aneta Piotrowska. Furthermore, he has earned the New York Dance Alliance and Los Angeles Outstanding Dancer of the Year awards. Hough’s appearance on the world-famous dance show ‘Dancing with the Stars’ proved to be a remarkable step for his professional career. In season four, he was appointed as a guest instructor alongside Apolo Anton Ohno and sister Julianne. He partnered with many celebrities during his dance competitions.
