Although traditional hallucinogenic drugs such as marijuana and lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) are not typically associated with seizures, newer synthetic hallucinogenic drugs can provoke seizures. Here, we report the unexpected consequences of taking a street-bought hallucinogenic drug thought to be LSD.
What drugs cause seizures?
Cocaine, ecstasy and amphetamines are commonly implicated among the recreational drugs that can cause seizures. A case series of 49 patients with recreational drug-induced seizures showed that generalized seizures were most common with acute drug intoxication and occurred in both first-time and chronic abusers.
Can acidity trigger seizure?
The results suggest that acid movement up the esophagus is a trigger for sudden death in KA induced seizures. The fact that blocking acid also eliminates sudden death implies causation.
