An X-ray is a quick and painless procedure commonly used to produce images of the inside of the body. It's a very effective way of looking at the bones and can be used to help detect a range of conditions.
What does an X-ray feel like?
X-Ray radiation cannot be sensed by a human! Some people feel a tingling sensation on their skin when they are around X rays. They are not feeling the X-ray beams, but rather they are feeling charged air particles produced by the interaction of the ionizing X rays with air.
How long do X rays take?
Most general x-ray exams take no more than 15 minutes. The contrast related procedures take approximately 30 minutes, unless told otherwise.
