The "Shamu Show" was canceled today. Tilikum, the whale that yesterday killed a trainer at SeaWorld Orlando, will not be put down, The Orlando Sentinel reports.

Why was Tilikum not put down?

SeaWorld will spare life of killer whale Tilikum, despite death of Dawn Brancheau and two others. ... And SeaWorld had said trainers never got into the water with the 30-year-old, 6-ton Tilikum because he did not know his own strength and had accidentally killed a trainer in 1991.

What happened to Tilikum's body?

Tilikum scalped and dismembered Brancheau as well as breaking bones throughout her body before drowning her. Following Dawn's tragic death, Tilikum was kept in tiny enclosures that limited his ability to swim, communicate with other orcas, and interact with humans even further.
