Rectum is the last part of the large intestine where the undigested food or feces is stored before passing out through anus. During this period the large intestine removes water and electrolytes from the undigested food. Then convert it into solid waste which can be excreted from body.
Where is undigested food stored?
Most of the food is digested in the stomach and small intestine but the remaining undigested food material is then transferred to the large intestine. In the large intestine, the water is absorbed and the remaining undigested food is stored in its lower region called the rectum.
Which organ has the most undigested food?
The small intestine has the largest amount of digestive juices and will most of the digestion of food is carried out here. After the food that can be broken down has been digested, the digested food is then absorbed into the bloodstream through the walls of the small intestine.
