The bottom line is, armadillos do not actively look to attack dogs, and would rather avoid them completely. Most of the time, they will turn tail and disappear when confronted by large pets. If your dog does get scratched or bitten by an armadillo you should seek expert veterinarian help.
Are armadillos dangerous to dogs?
Even if your pet does bite an armadillo, the risk of infection is quite low. Your pet is much more likely to be in danger of illness do to encounters with raccoons (prone to rabies), other dogs, cats or children than a (mostly) harmless armadillo.

Armadillos are timid animals, and noisemakers or whirly gigs may keep them away. If you have a dog, that will scare the armadillos off your property. Leave the dog outat night sometimes. The armadillo will travel to friendlier neighborhoods!
