Sub-base is the term we use to describe the area that lies directly underneath the artificial grass. It is most commonly made up of a sand/gravel mixture, although in some instances it consists of concrete, asphalt or even a wood base.

Silica sand is the most common and effective option of sand infill. This sand is often made specifically for artificial grass. This sand infill supports protection from UV rays, which means your turf will look amazing for longer. Acrylic sand infill is another popular choice for artificial grass.

What is the base for artificial grass?

There are a few different sub-base options, the most common being crushed granite stone. This is sometimes referred to as Grano dust or 4-6mm dust. You can also use limestone and MOT Type 1, but here at Artificial Lawn Company, we mainly use our own special mix of crushed granite aggregate.
