What Does Tiny Url Mean?

TinyURL is a URL shortening web service, which provides short aliases for redirection of long URLs. Kevin Gilbertson, a web developer, launched the service in January 2002 as a way to post links in newsgroup postings which frequently had long, cumbersome addresses.

Is TinyURL safe?

Unfortunately, opening the link at work or at home with the family could result in serious consequences. For safety, avoid TinyURL links while browsing at work, unless the sender tells you exactly where the abbreviated URL links to and the sender is a person you trust.

How do you use TinyURL?

For a Website
  1. Copy the URL that you want to shorten.
  2. Go to tinyurl.com.
  3. Paste the long URL and click the "Make TinyURL!" button.
  4. The shortened URL will appear. You can now copy and paste it where you need it.
