Can Mites Kill Chickens?

Can Mites Kill Chickens?

If not dealt with, a few mites can turn into an infestation. And that can lead to death, because the chickens become anaemic and prone to infection. Even if you find them before they have a chance to reproduce much, they'll be causing your chickens pain.

How do you get rid of mites on chickens?

Spray your chicken coop walls and roosts for several days in a row with a mixture of:
  1. 2 cups water.
  2. 1 cup cooking oil.
  3. 1 tablespoon dish washing liquid. This will help kill off the mites that leave the hens by suffocating them. Shake well before using because the mixture will separate.

Can a mite infestation kill a chicken?

Mites do cause pain to your chickens, but they also can make them anemic, cause them to lose their feathers, and even kill them.
