Nerines do best in a well-drained site with full sun and love it at the base of a sunny, south-facing wall. A good summer baking encourages plenty of flowers in autumn. Plant the bulbs shallowly two-thirds below soil level 10-15cm apart. Water them in well.
Do Nerines spread?
Plant in spring. Height 60c. Spread 30cm. Grows in any free-draining soil.
How long do Nerine bulbs take to grow?
Sow seeds thinly in a tray of seed compost and grit and cover lightly with compost. The seeds need heat to germinate, 10-13°C. Water and keep warm. After a year, the small new bulbs can be potted on into individual pots and will take about 3-5 years to flower.
