Will a Scald Scar?

Mild burns or scalds that only affect the uppermost layer of skin (superficial epidermal burns) usually heal in about a week without any scarring.

How do you keep a burn from scarring?

How to prevent scars
  1. rinse the burn with cool or lukewarm water, then let the skin air dry.
  2. apply antibiotic anointment, using a sterilized applicator to help prevent infection.
  3. cover the burn with a nonstick bandage, held in place with gauze.
  4. seek medical care if the wound is getting redder instead of healing.

How long do scald marks last?

Scarring usually develops within the first few months after the burn, peaks around 6 months and will resolve or “mature” in 12-18 months. As scars mature they fade in color, become flatter, softer and generally less sensitive.
