Car Engine Number is found printed on the vehicle's engine casing. Similar to the chassis number of the car, the engine number is used for identification purposes. VIN or Chassis Number of the car and the Engine Number of the car are two different numbers and are unique.
Is VIN number on engine block?
The VIN can often be found on the lower-left corner of the dashboard, in front of the steering wheel. You can read the number by looking through the windshield on the driver's side of the vehicle. The VIN may also appear in a number of other locations: Front of the engine block.
Is engine number the same as VIN?
They are the same – the Vehicle Identification Number is stamped to the chassis of the car and so is fixed to that model in question. Car engines are, however, not fixed to the car in question – like other components, they can be changed.
