Cassette units work the same way as wall-hung split system units, with the difference being that cassettes are installed into the ceiling instead of on the wall. The indoor unit itself sits flush to your ceiling and distributes conditioned air through two, three or four sides of the unit.
How does a cassette air conditioner work?
Cassette air conditioning is one of the cleverest forms of air conditioning insofar as ceiling-mounted cassettes – mounted in a ceiling void so that only a fascia flush with the existing ceiling is visible – do not compromise wall or floor space but, nevertheless, allow optimum air flow in four different directions.
Are cassette air conditioners any good?
If you live in an apartment or work in a small office, a ceiling cassette system is a good choice. That's because it doesn't crowd you by taking up needed space. It doesn't protrude from your window ledge like a window unit or jut out of the wall like a wall-mounted unit. Instead, it does all its work from the ceiling.
