The Yeti coolers will float almost every time. No matter how bogged down with ice and drinks, the container itself is designed to stay afloat. They are manufactured with lightweight plastic and insulation, giving them excellent buoyancy to keep them from sinking.
Does the Yeti Colster float?
It turns out that Yeti coolers are very buoyant and do indeed float quite well even when they are completely full. This is because the plastic and insulation they are made with is much less dense than water and has lots of air pockets in it. Yeti Tumblers on the other hand do not float when completely full, they sink.
Does a full Yeti float?
When completely full of water Yeti tumblers don't float, they actually sink to the bottom. This is because Yeti tumblers are made of stainless steel which is denser than water and they are vacuum sealed, meaning there is no air in the tumbler, just a vacuum (aka nothingness).
