What makes something an Eldritch horror?

At it's most basic definition, Eldritch Horror is something that is uncanny, unearthly, and weird in a supernatural way. Most people attribute the themes of Eldritch Horror to H. P. Lovecraft's fiction, as well as those who've come after him and have tried to emulate his work.

Where does the term Eldritch horror come from?

Did you know? Curse, "cobweb," "witch," "ghost," and even "Halloween" - all of these potentially spooky words have roots in Old English. "Eldritch," also, comes from a time when otherworldly beings were commonly thought to inhabit the earth.
