Should You Whitewash Brick?

Whitewashing Brick

Is whitewashing brick bad?

Whitewash Protects Your Home

Moisture can seep into the brick or stonework. If it does, it will freeze in the stone, brick, or mortar, and will cause fractures. These fractures can serve as ideal locations for insects to lay their eggs, or enter your home.

Is whitewashing brick permanent?

Using regular paint to cover your brick (or combining paint with water to make a whitewash) is a bit less permanent than some other methods. If you change your mind, you may be able to power wash or sandblast it off – or remove it with stripping agents.
