The development of the Eatwell Guide was led by Public Health England (PHE) in association with the Welsh Government, FSS and the Food Standards Agency in Northern Ireland.
Who created the Eatwell guide and why?
The new eatwell plate was launched in 2007 (appendix 2), published by the Food Standards Agency who, at that time, had responsibility for public health advice on nutrition.
Who should not follow the Eatwell guide?
The Eatwell Guide does not apply to children under the age of 2 because they have different nutritional needs. Between the ages of 2 and 5, children should gradually move to eating the same foods as the rest of the family in the proportions shown in the Eatwell Guide.
