Dangerous goods, abbreviated DG, are substances that when transported are a risk to health, safety, property or the environment. Certain dangerous goods that pose risks even when not being transported are known as hazardous materials. Hazardous materials are often subject to chemical regulations.

What is considered a hazardous material?

A hazardous material is any item or agent (biological, chemical, radiological, and/or physical) that has the ability to cause harm to humans, animals, or the environment. This could be as a result of the material by itself or interaction with other materials.

What is hazardous materials and examples?

Explosives, gases, and flammable liquids. Flammable solids. Genetically modified organisms and micro-organisms. Infectious substances.
