Why Was Cfe Introduced?

Why Was Cfe Introduced?

It was introduced in 2010 to provide a broad competence-based education suited to the demands of the 21st Century. It aims to equip young people to thrive in modern complex democratic societies. Since its implementation, there has been some criticism of CfE, often based on opinion rather than strong evidence.

What is the purpose of the Curriculum for Excellence?

The purpose of Curriculum for Excellence is to help children and young people to become: • Successful learners; • Confident individuals; • Responsible citizens; and • Effective contributors. Developing the capabilities and attributes of the four capacities is embedded across all learning.

When did the CfE start?

Its work resulted in the publication in November 2004 of the document A Curriculum for Excellence. This document identified four key purposes of education; those that enable young people to become, "successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors."
