When the movie of Gone With the Wind premiered in Atlanta 75 years ago — on Dec. 15, 1939 — it made news far beyond Hollywood.

How many years did it take to make Gone With the Wind?

Gone With the Wind took 125 days of photography and a budget of $4.25 million (the average feature at the time cost under $1 million).

IS Gone With the Wind historically correct?

Gone with the Wind is not very historically accurate

Although The Atlantic reports that author Margaret Mitchell claimed she'd spent "tens of years" researching the time period and historical events depicted or referenced in the book, she gets much of the reality of the Antebellum South wrong.
