Plinth Beams are constructed between the foundation and walls and are reinforced concrete beams, these beams are provided when the foundation suffers from settlement to prevent the expansion or spread of cracks in the wall from the foundation and the foundation but these beams distribute the load of a wall.
What is plinth used for?
The plinth serves the important purpose of raising the base of the column it supports above the ground, thus protecting it from dampness and mold. The humble plinth is usually a mere thick block.
Why beams are provided?
Beams support the weight of a building's floors, ceilings and roofs and to move the load to the framework of a vertical load bearing element. In order to withstand the combined weight of stacked walls and transfer the support load, often larger and heavier beams called transfer beams are used.
